Ireland's Insane Hidden Supercar Scene in Dundalk!

It’s essentially been two years since cars and coffee North East came back in full force and it’s been gravely missed. It’s the sort of event in which anything could turn up, from a Polski style Fiat or Lamborghini Countach to a 'stanced out' moped or Ferrari F12 Novitec N-Largo. There’s nothing quite like it in Ireland and so I was riddled with anticipation for 2021’s first cars and coffee at the Dundalk Institute of Technology.

Entrants were slow to come through at first and initially you had some of the classics like a Bullet Style Mustang, Ferrari 348 and Nissan 240Z. Of course, being C&C North East, this Z had a V8 under the bonnet. Not sure what type but it certainly wasn’t standard!

Some JDM legends started to roll through too with almost all bases covered. You had an R32 GTR, Toyota Chaser JZX100, Nissan Silvia S15, FD RX7, and of course an entire slew of MX5s.

It was a real joy to see all of these machines gather after many had spent two years in sheds gathering dust in various parts of the island. As always the event was run extremely well. Attendees were given key chains and directed to parking spaces with ease. Additionally, none of the cars did anything crazy which is what you want when there are hoards of spectators.

I must admit however that I was keeping my fingers crossed that day for one car in particular and at around halfway through the event, it arrived. Dispersing crowds, dropping jaws, and making Dundalk look like a scene from Gotham city. It could only be the Lamborghini Murcielago SV!

The car in question is Ireland’s only Murcielago SV and one of about 30 right-hand drive SV’s ever produced. This is the sort of car that’s rare anywhere, not just in Ireland. The owner was a true gentleman and carried out the public service of blessing everyone’s ears with a few revs like any Murcielago SV owner should be demanded to by law.

The event also got some modified supercar action in the form of an R8 V10 with the world’s most aggressive exhaust system. Just take a look at the intricate fabrication work on display with the bumper off!

Finally, the Colemans turned up in some astounding metal as they always do. If you didn’t know already, the Coleman’s essentially lead the modification game in Ireland. They’ve always got something wider, louder, and cleaner looking than everyone else. In this case they brought their widebody E46 & E93 335i, among with a widebody flat-nose Porsche 996 911. A Porsche that couldn’t have been more different to the totally original 993 Turbo it faced.

The flat-nose 996 eliminates the key issue for many with the 996 which is of course the egg yolk front lights. It’s a modified build that also looks like OEM quality. It really could have been a factory Porsche race car back in the day. You have to see one of the Coleman’s cars up close someday to truly appreciate the artistry they put into their builds.

And that just about wraps up cars and coffee North East’s first event. I hope you got a good insight into one of Ireland’s best cars and coffees. Also a shoutout to my friend Scott for driving me down there that day in his S-Class (the armchair on wheels)!

Shmee150's new Million Pound Zenvo hypercar & why he bought it!!

(Image from autoevolution.com) Believe it or not   Shmee150 has bought a hypercar and instead of buying a Bugatti, Pagani, Koenigsegg, Ferrari F50 or McLaren P1, Shmee has gone out and splashed around $1.6 million dollars on the Zenvo TSR-S, a near as makes no difference 1200hp hypercar from Denmark. But why did he skip past all of those illustrious brands and what exactly will this car look like when he receives it. Let’s find out! (Image from Shmee150) First of all, let’s do a recap of the car. The Zero TSR-S is a highly updated version of the Zenvo Hypercar. You may remember the ST1 which had a rather unfortunate rep in the press as it became a little bit more orange than Zenvo wanted it to be. Think of that as like a Koenigsegg CCX. They then developed the TS1 which was the equivalent of an Agera and now they have Shmee’s car, the TSR-S. Like their version of the Koenigsegg Agera RS. Especially as it has many similar attributes. It’s got a very similar horsepower figure around ...

Belfast's Most Exotic Cars & Coffee - Lamborghinis, a LaFerrari and more!!

If you’re from Northern Ireland and love cars, I wouldn’t blame you for feeling as if there’s close to a 0% chance of seeing anything remotely exotic or cool. Our weather is atrocious, our roads aren’t built for many of these cars and anyone driving around in anything remotely flashy will get hurled abuse by a gentleman driving a clapped-out Bora. However, Charles Hurst Ferrari’s Cars & Coffee proved that thought process to be extremely wrong on Saturday. Despite some drizzly weather and the fact that winter is closing in, a whole host of supercars made the trip to Belfast for a spectacular morning. Let’s talk about what happened… You were firstly greeted by a sea of red prancing horses. Everything from a new 488 Pista and SF90 to an older 348 and Testarossa. However, the Ferrari service area is where things really started kicking off. Up on the lifts included a Ferrari F12 TDF surrounded by a room of cars such as the 812 SuperFast and GTC4 Lusso in some gorgeous shades of blue. ...

MX5 NI - The UK's Best MX5 Owner's Club!!

Buying an MX5 is great but enjoying it with other MX5 owners is simply spectacular. There’s plenty of MX5 owners clubs in the UK and Ireland but in this article, I’ll share my experience of MX5 NI and hopefully inspire some of you to get out there and drive with some friends! The cars The most immediate thing that you’ll notice when pulling up to an event is the sheer variety on show. Anything and everything from a bone stock NC MX5 to a bagged 300hp+ turbo NB. Every car has its own unique style and it’s a great way to generate ideas for potential modifications for your own car in the future.   I almost always see a set of wheels on an NB MX5 that I previously wasn’t aware of but look amazing. The great thing about this is that you can look at the wheel specs of that car and hopefully get a set for yourself that looks just as perfect. Then there’s the simple modifications like actual working cupholders instead of the MX5’s mediocre stock ones.   On top of that, you get to see ...
